A Study of Energy and Environmental Parameters of a Diesel Engine Running on Hydrogenated Vegetable Oil (HVO) with Addition of Biobutanol and Castor Oil

The article analyses energy and environmental operating parameters of a compression ignition internal combustion engine running on HVO-biobutanol castor oil fuel blends, also comparing them with an convection diesel. Since biobutanol is known for poor lubrication characteristics, it was mixed 5% oil. obtained blend HVO at 2/95, 10/90, 20/80 v/v fed to the engine. presented physicochemical indicators justified use said blends. Constant crankshaft speed 2000 rpm variable load expressed as BMEP 0.1–0.9 MPa selected in research. When using biobutanol–castor additive (hereafter simply additive) HVO, increase rate heat release (ROHR) convergence its value that conventional diesel observed.
